Poem#1: On Requesting Guidance
Trust me, beloved, I want to love you,
I need to love you, but please teach me
How to love you, when to love you, because
We are human beings and therefore eccentric,
And I am not a mind reader. I do not know about
Your tastes and preferences: do you want cream
And sugar in your coffee? Do you want me to accompany
You during your morning walk? Is it okay if I call you?
What’s your favorite color? What should I buy from
The grocery store? What would you like to order
For lunch? How do I best serve your needs and
Requirements? After all, relationships and friendships
Are challenging to manage and maintain, otherwise
People tend to drift apart and move on with their
Lives. Please be my guide, so that we can avoid
Conflicts: I have faith when I follow the North Star.
