For the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies, June is a special month.
While some of the biggest Pride celebrations globally are held in June (like the iconic New York City Pride March), tons of Pride celebrations, parades and festivals happen throughout the year.
With that in mind, it’s not too late to plan a Pride-themed trip to wave your rainbow flags and show support for a vibrant, loving community that’s been making significant advances in rights and freedoms in some corners of the planet while facing hateful rhetoric, persecution and violence in others.

As always, the LGBTQIA+ community stands up in the face of adversity, and that can be seen in full force at Pride events year-round.
If you’re curious where to go, the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association has a handy online calendar with events throughout the year. The organization also has plenty of resources to help the LGBTQIA+ community plan trips to safe and inclusive destinations worldwide.

Outside of Pride events, LGBTQIA+ travelers are still always on the move. A recent survey from Expedia found that LGBTQIA+ Americans spend nearly $4,000 annually, on average, on at least three trips a year.

Where are those travelers visiting? According to Expedia, this summer the LGBTQIA+ community is traveling all over the world, including city destinations like New York, Paris, Bangkok and Sao Paulo, as well as beachy spots including classics like Key West, Florida; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
“Destinations like Key West, Puerto Vallarta & Provincetown are stunning, spirited and unapologetically welcoming — no wonder they’re summer favorites,” said husbands and influencers Taylor Phillips and Jeff O’Donnell. “We’ve been lucky enough to visit all three and what ties them together is that unmistakable ‘come-as-you-are’ vibe that instantly makes you feel celebrated and at home.”

Expedia shared a list of upcoming destinations gaining popularity with the LGBTQIA+ community, including Singapore; Sardinia; Zurich; and Quepos, Costa Rica. Top domestic locations that offer a welcoming spirit, according to Expedia’s report, are Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco, plus New Orleans, Miami, Austin and San Diego, among others.
“Here in the U.S, it’s no shock that LGBTQ+ powerhouses like Los Angeles, Las Vegas and San Francisco topped the list — each city is rich in queer history, visibility and non-stop celebration,” Phillips and O’Donnell shared. “Globally, it’s also inspiring to see places like Singapore making progress, showing how visibility and inclusive travel can shift cultures.”
